Dane Bouris is an entrepreneur whose business interests reflect his passion for building companies that offer a point of differentiation and uniqueness to the market. Dane’s ability to recognise an idea and see it through to the development of a successful business has been the foundation for his diverse career to date.

Dane began working at Wizard Home Loans when the company had one branch and 10 employees. Under the leadership of his father Mark Bouris, Dane was introduced to an aggressive mortgage broking and investment services market by travelling around the country opening branches, facilitating road shows and assisting franchisees in developing their businesses. By working with the small business owners under the Wizard umbrella, Dane got his first taste of entrepreneurism while experiencing the rewards and difficulties of building a company from the ground up.

As Wizard expanded, Dane became increasingly interested in portfolio management, which led him to make the move from Wizard to the family owned investment services business, State Capital Property. At State Capital, Dane took on the portfolio management of domestic and global equity positions in addition to managing a substantial property portfolio. He became well versed in the day-to-day management of property development and when he saw an opportunity to get into the hospitality game, he jumped at the chance to go out on his own and gain experience in a more hands-on role.

In 2009, Dane and his brother Alex took over the Sydney-based boutique hotel property, Morgans. Prior to the takeover, the hotel had been beset by substantial debt due to poor business management. Dane worked to restaff the hotel, initiate new systems, rebuild the name and restore the business to see its genuine potential. Under Dane’s direction, Morgans is now at 90 per cent capacity and is on its way to being one of the top boutique hotels in Sydney. Dane and his brother also manage a number of other properties in New South Wales, as well as a resort in Byron Bay, and a shopping centre in Brisbane. Dane is now working on the launch of his first bar and restaurant set to open in Darlinghurst in early 2012.

Whilst Dane’s experience lies mainly in property development, his eyes are always open to business ideas that change the way the world works and offer smart solutions for consumers. In 2011, he got involved in BASE, a company that has developed a suspension system for trucks, lorries and trains that will improve fuel efficiency and revolutionise road and rail safety. Dane is now working with the team at Base to assist in the development and distribution of this unique global product.

Most recently, Dane has put his experience with Wizard back into practice as a Branch Principal of financial services company, Yellow Brick Road Wealth Management. Dane will oversee the Surry Hills branch and will work with his clients to create strategies that will achieve their financial goals for the future. His unique and diverse experience in business will be integral in his newest role an adviser to his father Mark Bouris on Channel 9’s Celebrity Apprentice Australia.
